Shedding Skin

I have started to shed skin. At first Mummy and Daddy got a little worried but someone told them that it is normal for babies to shed skin in their first month. Daddy told me that snakes shed their skin too but my skin is much smoother than the snakes. He said when I turn 2 years old, he will bring me to the zoo to see some snakes.

Daddy didn't go to work today because it is New Year's Eve and he took leave to spend time with me. Actually he spent half the morning cleaning our room so that it is nice and clean for me. He seems to like the Rainbow vacuum cleaner because he used it to clean everything! From mattress to carpet to the floor, even the pillows! I wonder if Daddy will use that to clean me too...

First Outing

Today is the first time I left the house after we got back from the hospital. I went for my first paediatrician visit to see Dr Yip Yeng Yoong at Gleneagles. Daddy and Mummy seemed nervous as they packed for the trip. I think Mummy took 6 diapers in case I decided to use it. Well, it is always good to be on the safe side, Mummy always says.

Remember I weigh 3.175kg at birth? Today I am 3.35kg. Wow, at this rate I go, I should be pretty big soon. They didn't measure my height but I am pretty sure I am taller now. There were so so many people at the clinic. Not all were babies, there were some older kids too and they were crying. I think they were going for their injection. I wonder if I will cry as much when I get mine soon.

We waited like an hour before we got to see Dr Yip. He seems like a jolly big fellow. He checked me all over and said that everything looks very good and normal, except that I have a little jaundice but nothing to be alarmed with.

Today is also Gong Gong's birthday but we were not able to join the rest for dinner as Mummy is still under confinement. Sounds like a bad word but it is suppose to be good for her with all the healthy food and herbal baths. They came over to look for us after their dinner though and Kor Kor Elijah had a good time with Kor Kor Evan. Cindy Yee Yee on the other hand wasn't feeling as good with a tummy upset. Wonder what she ate.

1 Week Old

I cannot believe I am 1 week old today! What have I been doing? Well, nothing much except drink milk, cry, sleep, cry, poo, pee, cry, stare into the sky, sleep... Actually I didn't cry that much. Mummy and Daddy says my cries are the very manja type, the cannot-get-angry-with-me type of cry. That's the whole idea isn't it, cry and get away with it.

Aunty Janice, Uncle Gary, Aunty Wei Ping and Gerrard Kor Kor came to visit me today. They are Mummy's very old school mates.

I wasn't feeling too well today. Had one side of my nose blocked so I had a hard time breathing while I slept. I could tell Mummy and Daddy were quite stressed out as I kept fidgeting in my sleep and cried very often. At one point, Daddy even put me on his chest to help me sleep. Someone told him that babies like the sound of heartbeats and that helps them sleep. Well, it didn't help me. I continue to torment them till 2am at which time I guess I was too tired myself and fell asleep after some good fresh milk from Mummy.

So that was how I spent my one week old birthday. Uneventful I must say...

My First Boxing Day..

I wonder why there is a Boxing Day right after Christmas Day. I always thought maybe there was a special big fight in the boxing ring to start off the boxing season. However, Daddy told me that Boxing Day dates back to past centuries when it was the custom for the wealthy to give gifts to employees or to people in a lower social class, most especially to household servants and other service personnel. As such, the name 'Boxing Day' originates from the tradition of putting gifts in boxes for the less fortunate. Wow, I learn something new everyday....

Mummy has been having a hard time trying to express milk for me. She has been battling with the pump since the second day after my birth. But I hear many aunties telling her it is normal for the first few days to have very little milk, so she perseveres.

Cindy Yee Yee came over to visit me today and she brought along Faith Zhe Zhe. Cindy Yee Yee is a nurse and she was trying to help Mummy massage her breast so she will feel more comfortable and have more milk. True enough, after the massage, Mummy suddenly felt the milk ducts open up and lo and behold, there is now enough milk for me and no need for any more powdered mixtures. Thank you Cindy Yee Yee for making Mummy an offical Daisy Cow! :)

Aunty Jia Ming noticed that I have a slight jaundice problem, especially obvious was my eye white which is slightly yellowish. She suggested Nai Nai buy some Wong Guo Zhai so I can bathe in it. Can these simple yellow fuits really help me get rid of the jaundice? I remember some of my friends in Gleneagles had to be placed under the warm light to get rid of the jaundice. Now all I have to do is bathe in some yellow fuits? We shall see tomorrow if it helped.

Daddy was watching soccer with Yeh Yeh and Gu Jeong San. Apparently Daddy and Gu Jeong are Man U fans while Yeh Yeh is a Liverpool fan. When I grow up, I will have to pick a club to support... maybe Real Madrid just to be on the safe side....

Hello World....

It has been three days since I last blogged and that's because I was busy getting used to my new environment.

Mummy was wheeled into the operating theatre at 0800hr on 21st Dec 2008. Daddy followed as he wanted to be there when I come out. I don't think Daddy was nervous, he was probably just very excited to see me soon. At 0814hr, Dr Gordon pulled me out of Mummy. At first I was all bluish because of the water I was soaked in. Daddy wasn't aware of that and thought that something has happened to me. Before he could get his camera to take the very first shot of me, I was all pinky again... much to the relieve of my Daddy.

The nurse put me on a tray and cleaned me up and then cut my ambilical cord. It feels strange because for 9 months I have relied on that cord to feed me, now I guess Mummy will feed me with her milk and help me grow even bigger and stronger. We took our first family picture with the help of Mummy's anesthesian before they wheeled me out with Daddy to be completely cleaned up. Mummy was left in the theatre to be patched back so that she will be pretty again.

So you wanna know my stats? here goes....
For those of you who cannot really see, I was born 3.175kg, 52cm long with a head circumference of 36cm. Please buy me a toy if you make money with those numbers okie...

There were many aunties and uncles who came to visit Mummy and Daddy and also to see me. Thank you everyone for visiting us and also for the presents. Mummy has lots of chicken essence and bird's nest to drink now...

On Christmas Eve at 11am, the doctor gave me a thorough check up and said that I am good to go. The friendly nurse gave me a shower and changed me into my own clothes. Unfortunately Daddy had to go back to the office to meet an important client so Gu Jeong San and Nai Nai came to pick Mummy and me up.

The ride home was very smooth and soon I was back home. I like my new home as it looks very comfortable. Daddy has prepared my cot next to Mummy's side of the bed so she can check on me easily. Mummy also told me Daddy has cleaned my mattress thoroughly so I don't have any bed bugs sleeping with me. I continue sleeping the whole of Christmas Eve and woke up occasionally for Mummy to feed me.

Christmas Day was no exception. I continue my beauty sleep and woke up for either Mummy or Aunty Jia Ming to feed me. Today I also showered for the first time at home. Daddy continue cleaning up the house today because we do not have a maid at the moment so he is helping out with the chores. Nai Nai has quite a lot to do and she looks tired.

I'm too BIG...

Mummy and Daddy went for the final check up with Dr Gordon on Thursday and guess what? I have put on another 300g and I am now 3.4kg! What have I been eating???!!?!

Dr Gordon thinks I should come out soon before I get too big. Apparently there are 2 ways I can come out... and from what Dr Gordon says, it will not be the natural way cos I might be too big for Mummy's pelvic and she might end up having a long and painful labour. So Mummy and Daddy has to decide now which day I should meet with them.

Grandma thinks 21st of Dec is a good day so it was decided, my birthday will be this Sunday, 21st Dec 2008 at 8am. Apparently Grandma was saying if she had known earlier that it will be the 21st Dec, she would have made a lot of money from the 4D cos 2112 came out 1st prize on Wednesday. I hope I will help Grandma strike more so I can have more toys next time.

It is now 7pm on the 20th Dec. Mummy is having a good hair wash now cos she said she might not get to wash her hair for many days after delivering me, poor Mummy. After dinner, Mummy and Daddy will pack up and check into Gleneagles Hospital. I guess I will be leaving this comfortable hole in about 12 hours. It is scary what the outside world looks like but I guess I don't have much of a choice. I better go pack up too... see you all tomorrow...

Today Mummy and Daddy went for their weekly checkup with Dr Gordon to see how I was doing. I think Mummy wasn't happy with the lady at the reception because the lady was giving Mummy a hard time for being late for their appointment. But Mummy was really tied up at work and couldn't leave early. It's ok Mummy, don't be upset...

Dr Gordon said I have turned outwards and that is not good for Mummy. And that I have grown too big for Mummy's pelvic and if they proceed with a natural birth, it might be a long process and might still end up with emergency Ceasarean section. Based on his system, Dr Gordon said I am about 3.1kg! I have grown from 2.8kg since last week! What has Mummy been feeding me?

Dr Gordon also said Mummy and Daddy should think about Ceasarean section and if so, then it should be done either on the 22nd or 23rd Dec. That's like next week! Am I ready to come out then? I think Mummy and Daddy wasn't expecting to have me come out via Ceasarean but they will do what is best for me. They sure don't want me to have a hard time coming out the natural way. I'll try to turn back inwards if possible....

Today Uncle David, Mummy's boss, gave me my new car. It is a cool Quinny and comes with a car seat.. heard gor gor Timothy and gor gor Julien did a test drive on it. I think I'll look very cool on it too. I will be sure to post a picture of myself on the Quinny when I get to sit on it. Thanks Uncle David & Auntie Frances :)

It all started when my parents went on a holiday in New Zealand back in April 2008. My father loves to drive and so they rented a car and also a campervan and spent almost 15 days exploring the South Island. They drove during the day and checked out the island. At night, there is nothing much to do in New Zealand, so they say.

Today I am about 8 months old in my Mummy and ready to see the world in about 2 to 3 weeks time. Daddy thinks I will be out in 2 weeks because Mummy has been walking alot. Mummy however prefers that I come out in 3 weeks time when I am full term.. whatever that means.....

Mummy and Daddy didn't go to work today because it was apparently some Hari Raya Haji holiday. They went to visit kong kong and po po and also Cindy yee yee and cousin Faith. I can't wait to play with cousin Faith because I think she is really fun.

I also heard cousin Wei En cry for milk alot because she is only 1 week old and needs lots of milk to grow up. I guess when I come out, I will also be crying together with her for milk. Boo hoo hoo..

It is already 1am and I think Mummy is sleeping already, so I think I better go sleep too in case I toss and turn too much and disturb her sleep. I have grown bigger and it seems there is so little space to play in here these days... sigh... goodnite....
