Birthday Party @ Polliwogs... Again..

My classmate Joshua happens to celebrate his birthday in December too so it was decided that we will celebrate our birthday party together at Polliwogs and invite all our classmates to the party. Although I celebrated my 3rd birthday at the same place, I thought it was still a pretty cool place to have a party. As some of our classmates were away on holiday during this year end period, not all were present at the party. We still had a pretty good turnout and had lots of fun.

We played some games and since the kids are older this time, the games were more organized compared to 2 years ago. Even Daddy and Joshua's daddy had to participate in the games and wear superhero T-shirts stuffed with plastic balls. We even had our own cakes! Joshua likes racing cars so his cake had a race car on it. I am still crazy over my animals and so I asked for one with animals on it. Obviously there were a lot of cakes left over and we had to bring it home to try finish it. Joshua's Mummy asked for 8 boxes of pizzas for the parents and we also ended up with like 5 boxes leftover.

I had to leave early from Polliwogs and go for my piano grading at Yamaha. I didn't do very well but it was good enough. It happened to be my last class at Yamaha as I will be having teacher Serene come to the house to teach me one on one. I am looking forward to that.

Mummy and Daddy decided to give us another treat and brought us to Katong GV to watch Walking with the Dinosaurs. Unfortunately Mummy overlooked the booking and got the non 3D version instead. It would have been a lot nicer with the 3D effects but it was still good nonetheless. So good even Mei Mei Andrea sat through the whole show.

Legoland

Finally we are on our way to Legoland. After several failed attempts to agree on a date, Mummy and Godma decided we will head to Legoland today.

Daddy decided to drive up while Uncle Yew Leong wanted to take it easy and decided to engage a driver to bring them to the hotel we are staying. We arrived at Hotel Granada at about the same time at 10am this morning. From there it was about a 10 mins drive to Legoland.

Thank goodness there was no crowd when we got there. In fact we were told the school holiday starts tomorrow so we are spared from the long queues at the rides. Indeed it was almost no queues at most of the rides. We went on to the roller coasters, both the mild and also the scarier one. We enjoyed both of them.

Unfortunately it started raining in the afternoon and we had to spend about an hour waiting for the rain to go away. By which time we decided we should head to the Waterpark as it closes at 6pm sharp. We had more fun at the Waterpark although the most exciting rides were not available to us as we were less then 120cm tall. Nonetheless it was fun floating around the park with Lego blocks floating around us. We also spend quite a bit of time at the small water slides. Even Andrea had fun with the slides.

We were literally chased out of the park at 6pm sharp. We headed to Old Town for dinner and although it was not as good as expected, we were hungry so anything was good enough. We then headed back to the hotel and after a hot shower, we fell asleep quite quickly before 8pm.

Anyoung Haseyo

Daddy made it for an incentive trip to Seoul Korea and he decided that he will extend the trip and have the family go along with him. He was suppose to be there for 3 days with his colleagues so he extended for another week and invited Godpa and Janessa to join us. We got there on the 4th Oct and returned on the 12th.

Before Godpa and Janessa joined us, we made a trip to Everland because everyone was talking about it and that we should go, especially the kids. It was quite a long way from Seoul and we had a little unpleasant encounter with the taxi driver on the way there but we soon put that behind us and enjoyed ourselves at Everland. It is a very big park and they even have a section with many animals. I enjoyed feeding the birds which landed on my hand. It was something different and really exciting. In the evening, we started queuing for the rides as it was not as crowded then. We had a lot of fun and by the time we got back to the hotel, we were all so tired and Mummy and Daddy had to carry us both to the room.

When Janessa arrived a couple of days later, we went to a few more parks and playgrounds like Lotte World and Children's Grand Park. We also had fun on the cruise along the Han River. We also had great meals at the Korean BBQ restaurants. I guess the pictures will tell it all.

Picnic at the Barrage

With no Yamaha class today, Mummy and Daddy planned for something different in the afternoon. We are going to have a picnic at The Singapore Barrage. We have always wanted to have a picnic there but just never got the chance before as most of our weekends are spent having classes.

The weather was threatening to be a dampener at about 3pm but Mummy and Daddy decided to have faith and prepared for the picnic anyway. They prepared snacks, fruits, sandwiches and Daddy even cooked some spaghetti in case we decided to be hungry after running around at the Barrage.

Thank goodness the weather held up and when we got there, it was really crowded with many people flying kites and small groups of people having picnic. The atmosphere was very fun and relax with everyone just having a good time. We picked a spot right in the middle of the park and laid out our mats. Then Mummy took out the food and Andrea started getting busy attacking the food. I was running around and checking out the kites. I also played soccer with Daddy but after a while I managed to get a group of Kor Kors and Jie Jies to play with me. Andrea ate most of the time but occasionally she played with the bubbles we bought at the Heartland Mall the day before.

We had lots of fun and didn't want to leave even though it was already getting late. There was another group of Kor Kors and Jie Jies who was willing to play with me so Mummy and Daddy could just relax and eat the leftover they brought for the picnic. We left the park at about 8pm and by the time we got home and showered and hit the bed, it was already about 10pm. It was another fun day. Thank you Mummy and Daddy.

Singapore Discovery Centre

We celebrate our 48th National Day today and Mummy and Daddy decided to bring us to the Singapore Discovery Centre. Apparently Mummy heard from Aunty Kelly that it is very fun and exciting. So we got Godpa and Janessa to join us.

We got there at about 1.30pm after spending the morning at Bishan for breakfast with Ma Ma and Gong Gong. It was free admission for Singaporeans and PRs but we had to pay for the Meerkat show. Mummy decided Andrea wouldn't like it so she opted not to watch it.

The centre was ok, not as fun and exciting as we had hoped it to be. There were some interesting stations but by and large we wouldn't have paid to go there. We had something to eat before the Meerkat show and it was quite nice as the dining area overlooked a little man made lake.

My Art

This was a drawing I did on my own while waiting for Mummy and Daddy to come home today. Everyone liked it and they thought the colors were very bright and nice.

First National Day Parade

Mummy tried to ballot for this year's National Day Parade and like the previous years, she did not get any tickets to either the actual day parade nor the preview. And in the spirit of celebrating our National Day and also to let us have a feel of what National Day Parade is all about, she decided to book a room at Mandarin Oriental so that we can see the preview of the parade.

After my Yamaha class, we drove to Marine Parade and picked up Janessa's birthday cake before heading to Mandarin Oriental. We wanted to have a swim before watching the parade but time was not on our side, plus Janessa couldn't make it earlier so we just lazed around in the room and waited for Godpa and Janessa to show up.

The parade started at about 5.30pm and it was quite boring at first. This was partly also because we
could see what was going on but couldn't really hear the sound. It was only after 6.30pm when it started getting more exciting with the parachuters and planes flying pass. When it was approaching 8.15pm, Mummy said the fireworks will be starting soon and it was really beautiful when we saw the fireworks. It lasted quite a while and when we thought it was all over, there was a grand finale 5 mins later and more fireworks were displayed.

We sang Janessa her birthday song and she was really happy although she didn't look so. Apparently
that is how she look when she celebrated her party in school. We had a lot of fun eating the cake which was made most with cream which Daddy didn't know when he order it. When it was time for Janessa to go home, we were all very sad. Daddy said we will meet very soon and that made it easier.

The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Thank goodness we went down early cos when we were leaving, there was a queue of at least 20 people waiting to go in for breakfast. We then proceeded to the pool and had a great time swimming. At one point, the wind was so strong it blew some of the umbrella stands away. And then it started to rain so we had to take shelter in one of the marquee but thank goodness it only lasted 10 mins and after that we continue to swim again. We checked out of the room at 1pm.

Pat's Schoolhouse 25th Anniversary Carnival

Pat's Schoolhouse celebrates it's 25th Anniversary and of course there must be a carnival to go along. As Canadian International School is an affiliate of the Knowledge Universe group, the carnival was held in their premise.

It was raining very heavily as we were heading for my drawing class in the morning and I was worried that the carnival will be cancelled. Thank goodness the rain stopped after my class and as we were heading to Jurong West, the sky started to clear.

It was pack when we got there. With 15 centers and quite a few alumni, the whole place was vibrant and brimming with excitement. There were many stations and I didn't know which to start with. Thank goodness I saw some familiar teachers and started with some rope hopping while wearing the sombrero. I also saw Joshua Tan and Tyler and we played at the Bouncing Castle for a while.

For lunch, I had roti prata with sugar and some fish balls. The stalls were pack and the curry gravy for the roti prata run out half way so many others had to eat it with sugar too.

It was really fun and I was sad when I had to leave. Mummy promised a friend to go for her housewarming at Pasir Ris so from the west we drove all the way back to the east. We stayed only for a while because we were going to meet Godpa and Janessa to have some more fun at the indoor playground at SAFRA Toa Payoh. We had dinner at Uno which is a popular steak stall in Toa Payoh. I shared a spaghetti and french fries with Janessa.

It was indeed a very fulfilling day.

Away from the haze

When the PSI hit 400 on the morning of 21st June 2013 in Singapore, there was a certain level of panic in some people. Mummy and Daddy were some of these people. When Daddy looked out of his office and all he could see was just plain white, something wasn't quite right. Like what Aunty Charlene in Daddy's office said, it looked like Genting without the cold temperature. They decided it was not safe to be staying around and frantically booked tickets out to Bangkok. The earliest available tickets were on Sunday morning and when we were on the plane this morning flying into
Bangkok, we were quite sure there were many others who felt the same as Daddy and Mummy as the plane was full. This was something you would see at the beginning of the week, perhaps to take advantage of a long weekend, and not something which happens on a Sunday morning.

By the time we checked into Grand Centre Point Hotel at Terminal 21, it was almost 2pm. It could have been later if not for the fact that we were ushered into the priority queue at the immigration because of me and Andrea. The were easily 1,000 people waiting to go through the checkpoint. The room was perfect and Mummy couldn't be happier with the king size bed and beautiful decoration.

We freshened up and quickly headed back to the lobby and asked for a cab to Erawan Bangkok where Nara Cuisine was located. Daddy had been there before and he loved the food so wanted us to try it too. Unfortunately there was a jam along the road and what could have been only 15 minutes on the BTS turned out to be an hour in the cab. Daddy was frustrated as he was hungry and knew that having 4 hungry people stuck in a jam was dangerous. Thank goodness Andrea and I fell asleep and that lessen
the frustration in him. When we finally got there, Daddy ordered like there is no tomorrow and surprisingly we finished all the food. It was good and Andrea and I liked the deep fried spring roll because we got to dip it in the sweet sauce. We ended lunch with their local version of Chendo and we had fun cos they gave us like 8 toppings and we could take whatever we like, as much as we like. It was awesome!

After lunch, we walked over to Central World and although Mummy and Daddy wanted to shop around, it was not going to happen with Andrea and me around. So we ended up amusing ourselves at the photo booth and even managed to get a couple of nice pictures.
We also spent some time in Boots cos there were somethings Mummy and Daddy found here that were not available back home. Finally we ended at the supermarket where we bought Andrea's diapers and by that time, we were all pooped and Daddy had to carry Andrea all the way to Chitlom BTS station for the train back as we were not going to get stuck in the jam for another hour. By the time we got back to the hotel, it was already 8pm and after a good shower, we headed straight to bed. It was a good first day in Bangkok. Tomorrow we will be going to the Safari World. I cannot wait....

First Dental Checkup

I went for my first dental checkup today at West Coast Dental Clinic. Why all the way to West Coast? Because it was recommended by one of Mummy's friend and at the same time, we happen to be going there for Josiah's birthday party. So Mummy decided to kill 2 birds with one stone. It was quite scary at first when I had to sit down on the dental chair and the dentist peered over my mouth. She checked my teeth and cleaned it and after about 20 minutes, she told Mummy and Daddy that my teeth is generally ok but I need to start using toothpaste with fluoride. I don't really like those cos it is spicy and minty but I guess I have to start using them if I want to keep my set of teeth.

Pat's Schoolhouse Family Day

Today is Pat's Schoolhouse family day and we celebrated it at Sentosa. Mummy and Daddy took the day off to spend it with me and Andrea came along too. It was wonderful to have the whole family there. I was so excited about the trip I couldn't sleep the night before.

Unfortunately, due to 4 cases of HFMD in the K1 cohort, the teachers decided to cancel the water play at POLW and replace it with a family treasure hunt. I was very very disappointed that there won't be any water play at least we got to take the cable car ride and explore some parts of Sentosa.

We gathered at The Jewel Box at 8.30am and because there were very few parking spaces, many parents were delayed as they had to find parking elsewhere. We only started at about 9.15am and by that time, I have already fallen into the pond accidentally and got myself all wet. Mummy and Daddy were annoyed that I was not careful but they were upset with me when I started crying and insisted on changing my clothes but there weren't any spare clothes for me. After some whining, I got over it and decided to join my friends.

We took the cable car over to Sentosa Island and after some treasure hunting together with Ethan Yum and his daddy Uncle Justin and a pit stop at McDonald's for some chocolate sundaes and fries, we completed the race and headed back to The Jewel Box for lunch. Lunch was simple but enough and after the prize giving, we were dismissed at 2pm.

The fun didn't stop there. Mummy had arranged for a stay cation over at Amara Sanctuary since we were around that area. We checked into the hotel and after some packing, we headed to the beach to build some sand castles. We dipped our feet in the seawater and even had fun at the nearby playground. At 5pm, we headed to the nearby animal sanctuary where they were giving some live demonstrations with eagles, macaw, monkey, snake and other birds. We had a good time watching the animals perform.

After the show, we took a tram and headed to the Luge where Daddy and I had our first experience with the Luge. As Andrea was too small, Mummy waited with her for us at Starbucks. It was really fun and I wanted more but it was getting dark so we had to look for dinner and then head back to the hotel.

The next morning, Mummy and Daddy surprised us with a morning swim at the rooftop pool. It was fun as we played in the jacuzzi pool. We also had our water guns and had fun shooting at Daddy and Mummy.

We checked out of the hotel at about 10.30am. I had great fun at Sentosa.

Picnic by the Beach

Today Mummy and Daddy decided to do something special. We were planning for dinner and they thought maybe we should try having a picnic by the beach.

So after my Yamaha music class, we headed to Cold Storage and bought some food for Mummy to prepare for our picnic dinner. Andrea and I were supposed to get a catnap once we get home so that Mummy can prepare the dinner. I did but Andrea didn’t and Daddy had to entertain her.

Just when we were getting ready to leave the house, we noticed that the skyline was filled with dark clouds. Mummy and Daddy decided that we should just go anyway, maybe the clouds will drift away. We were very hopeful until we were at the beach and the rain started pouring. We decided to wait out, hoping that it was just a passing shower.

After 15 mins in the car, the rain stopped and we decided that we should just go out anyway. We headed to a sheltered area where Mummy fed us our dinner. And when we finished our dinner, I was able to play with my scooter and Andrea was running around. We had a great time at the beach and had to leave when it started getting dark.

Dragon Playground

Whenever Daddy drives pass the Dragon Playground, Mummy and Daddy will always say they should go check it out soon before someone tears it down. Dragon Playground is located at Block 28 Toa Payoh Lorong 6, opposite the new SAFRA Club in Toa Payoh.

Finally today we got to see the playground. It is one of those very old playground that Mummy and Daddy used to play at. Not this same one but similar Dragon design ones elsewhere. When we parked our car at Block 28, it was very quiet because apparently the whole building has been vacated and it looked a little spooky. The playground was dirty with lots of leaves lying around. No one has been maintaining it since they are probably going to tear down the whole building.

Mei Mei Andrea was sleeping when we got there but Mummy insisted that we should not miss this chance to show me the playground they used to play at. It was alright... The metal bars were all rusty and I had to be careful not to get my hands cut. We didn't stay long cos we started getting mosquito bites and Daddy was worried they could be carrying Dengue so we left after 20 minutes. Daddy and Mummy promised that they will find me another old playground that is still functional.

Interesting Dialogue

Mummy: Reuben, do you know you are very blessed to have Andrea as your little sister?

Reuben: Really? Ok. Also very blessed to have Joshua Tan's birthday party at Polliwogs!!
