Birthday Celebration at USS

I celebrate my 8th birthday today. Time has passed so fast. I will be in Primary 3 next year and it seems like just yesterday that I got into ACS.

Mummy and Daddy decided to bring us to Universal Studios Singapore since we all have not gone there before, with the exception of Mummy who has gone there 3 times. Godpa suggested that they get the 6 month season pass which is more worth it and value for money, so they did. And with the inclusion of the Express feature, the 4 tickets for all of us cost about $770! Sure is expensive having fun here in Singapore.

Got our faces painted when we got there. And we headed straight for the first roller coaster. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Andrea was not tall enough so she was not able to take that ride. So Daddy and I headed for the queue, and our Express feature ensured that we didn't even have to queue and got our seats pretty fast. I said fortunately for Andrea not tall enough to go cos it was a very scary ride and I was so scared I covered my face most of the time and had it smudged so badly I look hideous after the ride.

We managed to try out almost all the rides and even had the chance to go a second time for some of the more interesting ride. It was almost 9pm when we decided to head home. Needless to say, Andrea and I knocked out in the car on the way home.

It was a good celebration and I had a good time.

Tennis with Coach William

Coach William is probably my 4th tennis coach so far. This is only my third lesson with him and for some reason, I have been able to hit the balls better with him. Even Daddy thinks so and was impressed with the way I run and hit the ball tonight. He is strict with his instructions and sometimes I don't like it but Mummy and Daddy says that is the way to improve. I can't always be playing like a beginner and it is time I get some serious training.

Archery

Mummy signed me up for the Introduction to Archery class organized by ACSJ. It was held at Orchid Country Club at their Out Door Range. There were about 60 students who signed up for this class held over 2 sessions today.

The weather was was cool in the morning and thank goodness it was held under shelter. The instructor was quite funny as he explained to us how to use the bow and arrows. Daddy and I each got our turns to shoot the arrows at the targets which was about 25 meters away. I didn't do very well as the bow was quite heavy even though it was the kid's version. Daddy did better maybe because he had done it before some time ago.

Besides the normal target, we also got to shoot at animals like bear, goat, fox, lynx and cougar. It managed to hit the fox.

National Schools Chess Championship 2016

After 3 months of learning chess at the Singapore Chess Federation, I am ready for some serious competition. Mummy and Daddy signed me up for the National School Chess Championship and I represent my school in the P1 and P2 category. It was a huge affair, at least to me, because there were so many people participating and it was quite overwhelming at first, even for Daddy who took the 2 days off and brought me there and accompanied me.

There were a total of 9 games over 2 days and although each game didn't take that long for me, the waiting time for the next game was rather long and daunting. The wait was due to some of the older boys and girls dueling out and sometimes it can take almost an hour of them to complete the game.

As there was quite a bit of time between the 2nd and 3rd game due to the lunch break, Daddy decided to call Nai Nai and ask if we could pop by her place, which was not too far away, for lunch. And since i just dropped my front tooth recently, Nai Nai decided to cook some of her delicious porridge for me since i can't really bite. It was yummy and I almost had a third serving.

After the 9 games, I managed to collect 3.5 points. Mummy and Daddy were really proud of me as I only started 3 months ago with this sport and I am already good enough to participate in the national competition. I am sure I will be more prepared for next year's competition and have more fun with this sport.

Front Tooth

I am officially Bo-Gay today after my front tooth dropped off after dangling for almost half a day as I refused to allow anyone to pull it out. I noticed that it was loose last evening in Ah Ma's house while having dinner there. I was playing tennis with coach Roy this morning with the tooth dangling and it was only during lunch at Siglap Yong Tau Foo that it dropped off on it's own. Thank goodness there wasn't much blood and it wasn't painful at all. Let's hope the new tooth grows out soon.

First Swimming Meet

Daddy signed me up for the school swimming meet hoping that I might follow in his footstep and go into competitive swimming. Actually the idea originated from Aunty Joanne who wanted Mummy to sign me up to keep Arvan company. It turned out that she missed the deadline and so I had to swim on my own. Thank goodness I found out Zachary is also participating so I decided to give it a try. I am not very good with crowd and with people looking at me swim, especially when I am not very good with it still. Daddy was very happy that I did not chicken out the last minute even though I was suffering from a 38 degrees fever that day.

Daddy decided to meet me at the pool that afternoon as he had to finish some work in the office. So I took the school bus together with some other boys and got there in time for the briefing. It was drizzling a little and some of the parents were worried that it might be called off as they looked like serious swimmers and ready to proof something.

Anyway, my turn came and it was the 50 meters freestyle first. I also agreed to swim because I was on lane 8 and further away from the spectators. I wasn't the last in the heat and Daddy was really proud that I finished the race as I have hardly swam more than 100 meters each time I went for swimming lessons. Zachary did much better but that was cos he has training at Singapore Swimming Club. I also completed the 50 meters breaststroke and again I wasn't last as another boy didn't even complete the race.

It was a good experience for me and for finishing the 2 races, Daddy bought me 2 Lego sets as a reward. I am not so sure if I will be doing this again.
