I Cannot Believe I am 1 Year Old!

I made it! I am 1 year old, well almost, in 2 days time.

Mummy and Daddy decided to throw me a birthday bash for being a good boy for the last 12 months. I heard they searched high and low for a nice place and finally decided on this really cool restaurant called 15 mins located at Lasalle. Well, it was a cool place alright, and I think all who were there couldn't agree more.

Aunty Jackie was very sweet and made some really nice cupcakes for the party. Although I couldn't really eat any of them, I think all the kids who had it enjoyed it. Thank you Aunty Jackie for the very pretty cuppies! And if you like to order some for yourself, you can call her at 9665.0178 :) Speaking of cakes, Mummy ordered this really cute looking Noah's Ark with pairs of cute animals perched on the ark. It was very pretty and also a pity when we had to cut it up. Thank you Mummy.

And finally, thank you all Aunties and Uncles who were at the party and for all the nice presents. I am really looking forward to the next birthday party!

Teeth No. 5 and 6

It has been a while since I developed any new tooth, the last being on the 25th of September. So finally two new teeth appeared on my upper jaw and I sure hope I don't have to wait another 2.5 months for the rest of my teeth. By the way, my 2 existing upper teeth are huge and Mummy and Daddy sometimes calls me bugs bunny..

Protect and Serve

The reason for the lapse in my entries is because Daddy had to go to the army for reservist training so he couldn't help me with the entries. He was there for a long period this time, from the 29th of Oct to the 14th of Nov. Daddy says he is from the artillery but supporting the infantry so he has to walk with the infantry battalion. Daddy also says I have to go the army next time when I turn 18 and then it will be my turn to protect and serve the country. I hope I will have as much fun as Daddy when I am in the army.

Uncle Nestor and Aunty Felicia

Uncle Nestor and Aunty Felicia are Mummy's friends. They were working in San Francisco for many years and Mummy says they have a big house there. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to visit them in SF and now they are back in Macau and probably not going back to SF for some time. They decided to pop by Singapore for a couple of days to visit some of Aunty Felicia's relatives and friends and we managed to spend some time with them at Foster's in Holland Village. Uncle Nestor is a very funny guy and he makes lots of funny faces. As you can tell from the picture, I was a little nervous when he carried me.

Look Mummy, No Hands!

I have started standing on my own while playing with my toys. And on some occasion, I have unconsciously lifted both my hands up in the air and looked like I could walk on my own. Mummy and Daddy are very proud that I have reached this milestone and they look forward to seeing me walk on my own very soon. I am not so sure they are ready for me walking on my own cos they would have to chase after me and eventually have an aching back. We shall see.

Gym

Mummy and Daddy decided that I should get some exercise since I look big even though everybody knows I am tough, not fat. After all, a little exercise will do me some good too. So we signed up for a trial class at My Gym @ Marine Parade today. There were like 12 other kids there for the trial and they ranged from 6 months to 2.5 years old. We tried a couple of stunts and I must say I had lots of fun. I was even thrown into the air with a somersault before landing on my bum. You should have seen Daddy's face as he was shocked to see what they did to me and he only felt relieved when he saw a smile on my face. Needless to say, Daddy and Mummy were convinced that I will enjoy myself there so we signed up for 8 lessons. Can't wait to start my classes.

Little Neuro Tree

I attended my first lesson at Little Neuro Tree today. Mummy and Daddy decided that we should register at the main branch near Bugis Junction as they seem more professionally managed. There are a total of 6 of us in the class and we sat in a semi circle in front of the teacher. Although we are all around the same ages, I am the youngest of them all. Either Mummy or Daddy are required to accompany me so that they can practice what we learn at home. There will be a total of 10 sessions per term and classes will be conducted in a different language each time starting with English, Japanese and then Mandarin. I had fun for my first lesson although I need to learn not to cry when I have to return the toys to the teacher.

Teeth No. 4

This morning Mummy confirmed that the second upper tooth has become visible. That brings the total to 4 now. However, Mummy and Daddy are concerned that my lower teeth are not properly in place and looks a little crooked. I hope it will just straighten out when the rest comes along.

Happy Birthday Mummy and Me!

Today is a special day cos it is Mummy's birthday and I turn 9 months old. Mummy and Daddy decided that since it is the Hari Raya long weekend, we should go somewhere together. So we booked a room for 2 nights at Siloso Beach Resort from Saturday night. It was also a good idea we were at Sentosa because Uncle Simeon and Aunty Christina were getting married in Shangrila Sentosa. So after checking into Siloso Beach Resort, I slept for a while and then got ready for the wedding dinner at about 6 pm. It was a beautiful wedding dinner and everyone looked like they had fun.

On Sunday morning, while we were having breakfast at the hotel, we were pleasantly joined by Mr Squirrel who came very close to us to get his breakfast. Can you spot him in the background?

After breakfast, Mummy and Daddy brought me to the beach for the first time and although it was quite sunny and hot, I had a lot of fun. As you might have noticed in the pictures below, I was quite uncomfortable while Daddy buried my feet in the sand. I think I will enjoy myself more when I am able to swim at the beach next time.

In the afternoon, Mummy and Daddy brought me to the Underwater World where I got to see many types of fish and sea creatures. I like the tunnel where I got to see the fishes swimming above me. It was very entertaining.

We were suppose to go swimming at the pool this morning but because I was having a running nose, Mummy decided it was not a good idea. We did sit by the pool for a while until the heat got a little unbearable and we decided to go back to the room.

After checking out, Cindy Yee Yee called to say that they were going to the Botanic Gardens to feed the fishes. Mummy and Daddy decided to join them. Ah Mah and Ah Gong were there too, together with Faith Jie Jie. We threw like almost 2 bags full of bread into the pond hoping the fish will have a feast. Besides Japanese carps, we also saw turtles, monitor lizard, kingfishes, ducks and some arowanas. We had drinks at the cafe before heading home.

What an eventful long weekend!

Love to Read.. Not!

No, I don't like to read, or rather I cannot read yet. I am just pretending to read so Mummy wouldn't read me the story of "How Elephants Lost Their Wings" for the 100th time!

Little Einstein

This is my favourite show and every time I hear this theme song, my eyes beam with excitement and I smile from cheek to cheek. Very entertaining and educational show. You show check it out too!

Singapore Zoo

Mummy and Daddy was on leave today because Nai Nai and Ye Ye went to Genting with Gu Zhe and Gu Jeong for a couple of days. We decided that we shall visit the Singapore Zoo today since it will not be so crowded on a week day and plus I look like I am ready for some serious animal identification. So after lunch, we headed to the zoo. It was very cloudy which is good for Daddy and me but somehow it was still very humid. As usual, I didn't want to sit on the pram so Daddy had to carry me most of the way. We didn't go very far. After seeing the White Tiger, Hippo, some monkeys and finally the elephants, Daddy decided it was enough for the day. I guess I am not that ready for the zoo after all.

Ah Mah did it one more time!

It was barely 1 week ago I mentioned that Ah Mah struck 4D with my birth weight. This time it is my birth certificate number, again! However, instead of the last 4 digits 9898, Ah Mah decided to buy 8989 instead while Ah Gong insisted on 9898 for himself. Ah Gong called Mummy a while ago and told her that Ah Mah struck my number again. Like what Daddy's friend Jean Jie Jie likes to say... This is ridiculous!

Ah Mah did it again!

As Ah Mah checked the 4D page on Teletext, she calmly mentioned that she struck again. I think there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance and since Ah Mah has struck 4D so many times, I guess she has the right to be arrogant. I am elated that it is my number that brought her wealth again. Yes, my birth weight which registered 3.175kg. Although Ah Mah has struck with this sequence before on May 9th, she decided just last week that she should buy this number again. Talk about lucky, you cannot beat my Ah Mah.

Goodbye Uncle Leslie & Aunty Alina

We were over at Uncle Gary's house tonight to firstly celebrate Uncle Leslie's birthday and also to spent some time with Uncle Leslie and Aunty Alina before they head back to Toronto. You would remember they recently had their wedding at Four Seasons Hotel and had gone for their honeymoon and now getting ready to go back to work in Toronto. They won't be back next year as they will be visiting Aunty Alina's family in Romania. We wished them all the best and hope that they will have a new friend for me to play with when they come back in 2 years time. Mummy will shop with Aunty Alina one last time on Monday before they fly off the next day.

Sophie the Giraffe

For my 8th month birthday, Mummy bought me a very nice looking teether called Sophie the Giraffe. Apparently Sophie the Giraffe has been a favorite teething toy in France for more than 40 years. This rubber teething toy requires 14 manual steps to take her through to completion - all preformed by hand. For a high production toy, it's quite amazing that this little giraffe is still handmade in the French Alps, just as she has been since 1961. With her natural rubber and non-toxic, food grade paint, Sophie the Giraffe has been safely cuddled for over 40 years! She truly is a French national treasure, stealing the hearts of parents and babies around the globe. Thank you Mummy!

A Splashing Good Time

I finished my 10 swimming sessions at Hwa Xia International and Mummy and Daddy decided it is time I progress to the actual pool. So for the first time today, I swam in the swimming pool at home. We were suppose to swim at Chinese Swimming Club because their children's pool has nice water features and water slides but unfortunately they didn't allow babies due to safety reasons, so we went home to swim instead. Luke decided to join us so we had a good time with him and Uncle Alan. They lent me the crab float so I could swim unassisted. Everyone seemed impressed with me. :)

Finally...teeth!

It has been some weeks now. I haven't been sleeping and eating well and Mummy and Daddy suspected it must be due to my teething problems. Some nights I will cry so much I hardly slept more than 2 hours, which means Mummy and Daddy slept just as little. It must have been a big relieve to them when they discovered that they could feel my teeth this morning. Ye Ye and Nai Nai were just as elated and couldn't stop laughing.

New Toy

Ye Ye and Nai Nai bought me a new toy today. They saw this cool looking tricycle at Giant Superstore which allows them to push me around before I can reach the pedals and ride on my own. It also has this very annoying music when I push the buttons at the front panel. I think it is to announce my arrival when I ride around the neighborhood. One day I will be able to ride on my own without any support from the back. Thank you Ye Ye and Nai Nai.

Nai Nai has started feeding me beef porridge and I love it. It taste very nice and Mummy says it is very good for me as I am still developing and growing. As you can tell from the video, I am very passionate about my porridge.

New Car Seat

I used to have a Maxi Cosi baby carrier which I have unfortunately outgrown it. So in the spirit of safety during car rides, Daddy and Mummy decided to buy me a new car seat, one which can apparently last me till I am 4 years old. At the rate I am growing, I will be happy I can sit in it till I am 2 years old. It is very comfortable and I like it very much. It allows me to catch a glimpse of what is happening outside while Daddy is driving. Apparently the lady who sold it said this is the business class of car seats. Thank you Mummy and Daddy.

First Hair Cut

My hair has been growing rather slowly and it seems to look like the few miserable strands of hair on the elephant's head so Mummy and Daddy decided to shave me, not completely bald but with about half a centimeter left, in the hopes that it will recharge the growth. It was a painful affair for me as it felt strange to have a shaver run all over my head. When it was all over, I thought I look rather good and wished I had done it earlier. Now I just pray that I will have more hair growing.

Mummy bought some organic apples for me and decided to steam it until they are marshy before feeding me. It tasted very nice and I liked it. However, I realised that shortly after consuming the apples, I started getting very hyper and was throwing my arms and legs in the air as if there were mosquitoes around me. Mummy and Daddy figured that it must be the sugar rush for me since this is the first time I am eating anything sweet. I am sure they will be very careful not to feed me any apples before I sleep now.

6 Months Later

We met up with Mummy's friend Uncle Som and Aunty Mou today for lunch. Aunty Mou is pregnant and wanted to meet up before she pops and is confined to the house for a couple of months. More importantly, they wanted to see me as it has been 6 months since they last saw me at the hospital. We had lunch at TaiPan Restaurant at the Civil Service Club in Changi Village. Apparently the food was pretty good and everyone had a good time. Of course I had to poo during lunch and Daddy showed Uncle Som how to change diapers since he will have to learn sooner or later.

In the evening, Mummy and Daddy went for Uncle Leslie and Aunty Alina's wedding dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel. It was a small affair with 6 tables of close friends sharing this happy occasion. Uncle Leslie is Mummy's old secondary school mate and he met Aunty Alina who is a Romanian while they were both studying in Toronto.

My First Video Recording

This is my first video recording. I think I need to work on a more graceful fall.

Singapore Barrage

The Marina Barrage is a dam in Singapore built across the Marina Channel between the reclaimed lands of Marina East and Marina South. Ye Ye wanted to take a look at this award winning barrage and so we all decided to go there since I have not been there too. We got there at about 5.30pm and it was not hot at all as the sun was about to set. Plus it was very windy and so I had no complains. Evan Kor Kor had a good time running around the big field where many people were either having a picnic or flying kites. Daddy says he will get me a kite when I am able to run about. We had a good time at the barrage and will likely have a picnic the next time we go there.

Circumcision?

I went to the Marine Parade Polyclinic today for another round of the vaccination. It was not the usual nurse who helped me the last few times. It was a Chinese nurse who seem to have worked there a long time. Anyway, she did the usual questioning before administering the vaccination. At one point, she said she needed to take measurement of my head circumcision. Daddy looked stunned for a moment and confirmed with her that we were there for vaccination, not circumcision. She apologised for using the wrong term. She meant to say circumference. I hope Daddy and Mummy didn't get any funny ideas of circumcision. I heard it is very painful.

Semi Solids

I am now 6 months old and Mummy has decided to start me on some semi solids consisting of organic barley cereals mixed with milk. At first I wasn't sure of it but I grew to enjoy it more these days. I guess I was more comfortable with a liquid diet and not used to swallowing stuff. Nai Nai was suppose to make pumpkin for me today but I guess she was too busy, maybe I will get to eat it tomorrow. By the way, I now hold my own bottle steadily as I feed. In fact, I can play with the bottle as the video will show.

Cute Pants

Check out my cute pants. Mummy bought me these pyjamas with animals at the back so that they can watch my back while I sleep. In case they don't look familiar, it is a bumble bee on the left and a bear on the right.

Bali without me

Mummy and Daddy went to Bali for a short trip with some of their friends. They left on Thursday morning and came back today. It was a long awaited trip because they have been talking about going for a trip for a long time but it never materialised, until now. Finally it was decided that they will chill out in Bali without any kids. So I had to be deposited at Ah Mah's house cos Nai Nai also decided to go to Genting with Ye Ye and Gu Jie's family. I'm the only one who has to stay at home. :(

This is the first time I was separated from Mummy and Daddy for so many days. Ah Mai had to put up with me for 4 days but I was glad Ah Gong was around and I enjoyed the times he brought me out for walks.

While in Bali, Mummy got herself a tattoo with my name on it. At first she thought it was quite nice, but when it dried up, she regretted doing it. Thank goodness it is a temporary tattoo.

Congratulations Wendy Yee Yee and Uncle Rockstar!

Today marks the union of Wendy Yee Yee and Uncle Fandy Rockstar. This is the first time we attended a Malay wedding so it was very interesting. The religious leaders sat down with Uncle Fandy on the stage while Wendy Yee Yee and her mother sat on couch next to him. The both of them look splendid in their Malay wedding attire. We were then treated to a big spread of Malay food and I must say it was very good although I didn't eat cos Daddy had nothing but praises for the spread. Since this is the Malay portion of the wedding, we will also be treated to the usual Chinese wedding this coming Tuesday at Fort Canning Park. Will keep you guys posted then.

My First High Tea

Today Mummy met up with her friends and decided to have high tea at Merchant Court Hotel. Apparently they were told that the high tea there is quite good. Unfortunately I was a little cranky and didn't leave Mummy much time to go get her food. I only decided to quieten down when they close the high tea. While we were having tea, Daddy went shopping on his own at Marina Square. He bought himself a duffel bag, something he has been eyeing for a long time.

We also went swimming today and Ah Gong went along with us. He was quite impressed that I could stay in the water for about 45 mins and still furiously kicking away. After swimming, we went to Xin Wang for something to eat. I also had my milk there. Mummy also bought me some cute finger puppets.. a cow, a dog and an alligator.
