Picnic at the Barrage

With no Yamaha class today, Mummy and Daddy planned for something different in the afternoon. We are going to have a picnic at The Singapore Barrage. We have always wanted to have a picnic there but just never got the chance before as most of our weekends are spent having classes.

The weather was threatening to be a dampener at about 3pm but Mummy and Daddy decided to have faith and prepared for the picnic anyway. They prepared snacks, fruits, sandwiches and Daddy even cooked some spaghetti in case we decided to be hungry after running around at the Barrage.

Thank goodness the weather held up and when we got there, it was really crowded with many people flying kites and small groups of people having picnic. The atmosphere was very fun and relax with everyone just having a good time. We picked a spot right in the middle of the park and laid out our mats. Then Mummy took out the food and Andrea started getting busy attacking the food. I was running around and checking out the kites. I also played soccer with Daddy but after a while I managed to get a group of Kor Kors and Jie Jies to play with me. Andrea ate most of the time but occasionally she played with the bubbles we bought at the Heartland Mall the day before.

We had lots of fun and didn't want to leave even though it was already getting late. There was another group of Kor Kors and Jie Jies who was willing to play with me so Mummy and Daddy could just relax and eat the leftover they brought for the picnic. We left the park at about 8pm and by the time we got home and showered and hit the bed, it was already about 10pm. It was another fun day. Thank you Mummy and Daddy.

Singapore Discovery Centre

We celebrate our 48th National Day today and Mummy and Daddy decided to bring us to the Singapore Discovery Centre. Apparently Mummy heard from Aunty Kelly that it is very fun and exciting. So we got Godpa and Janessa to join us.

We got there at about 1.30pm after spending the morning at Bishan for breakfast with Ma Ma and Gong Gong. It was free admission for Singaporeans and PRs but we had to pay for the Meerkat show. Mummy decided Andrea wouldn't like it so she opted not to watch it.

The centre was ok, not as fun and exciting as we had hoped it to be. There were some interesting stations but by and large we wouldn't have paid to go there. We had something to eat before the Meerkat show and it was quite nice as the dining area overlooked a little man made lake.

My Art

This was a drawing I did on my own while waiting for Mummy and Daddy to come home today. Everyone liked it and they thought the colors were very bright and nice.

First National Day Parade

Mummy tried to ballot for this year's National Day Parade and like the previous years, she did not get any tickets to either the actual day parade nor the preview. And in the spirit of celebrating our National Day and also to let us have a feel of what National Day Parade is all about, she decided to book a room at Mandarin Oriental so that we can see the preview of the parade.

After my Yamaha class, we drove to Marine Parade and picked up Janessa's birthday cake before heading to Mandarin Oriental. We wanted to have a swim before watching the parade but time was not on our side, plus Janessa couldn't make it earlier so we just lazed around in the room and waited for Godpa and Janessa to show up.

The parade started at about 5.30pm and it was quite boring at first. This was partly also because we
could see what was going on but couldn't really hear the sound. It was only after 6.30pm when it started getting more exciting with the parachuters and planes flying pass. When it was approaching 8.15pm, Mummy said the fireworks will be starting soon and it was really beautiful when we saw the fireworks. It lasted quite a while and when we thought it was all over, there was a grand finale 5 mins later and more fireworks were displayed.

We sang Janessa her birthday song and she was really happy although she didn't look so. Apparently
that is how she look when she celebrated her party in school. We had a lot of fun eating the cake which was made most with cream which Daddy didn't know when he order it. When it was time for Janessa to go home, we were all very sad. Daddy said we will meet very soon and that made it easier.

The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. Thank goodness we went down early cos when we were leaving, there was a queue of at least 20 people waiting to go in for breakfast. We then proceeded to the pool and had a great time swimming. At one point, the wind was so strong it blew some of the umbrella stands away. And then it started to rain so we had to take shelter in one of the marquee but thank goodness it only lasted 10 mins and after that we continue to swim again. We checked out of the room at 1pm.

Pat's Schoolhouse 25th Anniversary Carnival

Pat's Schoolhouse celebrates it's 25th Anniversary and of course there must be a carnival to go along. As Canadian International School is an affiliate of the Knowledge Universe group, the carnival was held in their premise.

It was raining very heavily as we were heading for my drawing class in the morning and I was worried that the carnival will be cancelled. Thank goodness the rain stopped after my class and as we were heading to Jurong West, the sky started to clear.

It was pack when we got there. With 15 centers and quite a few alumni, the whole place was vibrant and brimming with excitement. There were many stations and I didn't know which to start with. Thank goodness I saw some familiar teachers and started with some rope hopping while wearing the sombrero. I also saw Joshua Tan and Tyler and we played at the Bouncing Castle for a while.

For lunch, I had roti prata with sugar and some fish balls. The stalls were pack and the curry gravy for the roti prata run out half way so many others had to eat it with sugar too.

It was really fun and I was sad when I had to leave. Mummy promised a friend to go for her housewarming at Pasir Ris so from the west we drove all the way back to the east. We stayed only for a while because we were going to meet Godpa and Janessa to have some more fun at the indoor playground at SAFRA Toa Payoh. We had dinner at Uno which is a popular steak stall in Toa Payoh. I shared a spaghetti and french fries with Janessa.

It was indeed a very fulfilling day.

Away from the haze

When the PSI hit 400 on the morning of 21st June 2013 in Singapore, there was a certain level of panic in some people. Mummy and Daddy were some of these people. When Daddy looked out of his office and all he could see was just plain white, something wasn't quite right. Like what Aunty Charlene in Daddy's office said, it looked like Genting without the cold temperature. They decided it was not safe to be staying around and frantically booked tickets out to Bangkok. The earliest available tickets were on Sunday morning and when we were on the plane this morning flying into
Bangkok, we were quite sure there were many others who felt the same as Daddy and Mummy as the plane was full. This was something you would see at the beginning of the week, perhaps to take advantage of a long weekend, and not something which happens on a Sunday morning.

By the time we checked into Grand Centre Point Hotel at Terminal 21, it was almost 2pm. It could have been later if not for the fact that we were ushered into the priority queue at the immigration because of me and Andrea. The were easily 1,000 people waiting to go through the checkpoint. The room was perfect and Mummy couldn't be happier with the king size bed and beautiful decoration.

We freshened up and quickly headed back to the lobby and asked for a cab to Erawan Bangkok where Nara Cuisine was located. Daddy had been there before and he loved the food so wanted us to try it too. Unfortunately there was a jam along the road and what could have been only 15 minutes on the BTS turned out to be an hour in the cab. Daddy was frustrated as he was hungry and knew that having 4 hungry people stuck in a jam was dangerous. Thank goodness Andrea and I fell asleep and that lessen
the frustration in him. When we finally got there, Daddy ordered like there is no tomorrow and surprisingly we finished all the food. It was good and Andrea and I liked the deep fried spring roll because we got to dip it in the sweet sauce. We ended lunch with their local version of Chendo and we had fun cos they gave us like 8 toppings and we could take whatever we like, as much as we like. It was awesome!

After lunch, we walked over to Central World and although Mummy and Daddy wanted to shop around, it was not going to happen with Andrea and me around. So we ended up amusing ourselves at the photo booth and even managed to get a couple of nice pictures.
We also spent some time in Boots cos there were somethings Mummy and Daddy found here that were not available back home. Finally we ended at the supermarket where we bought Andrea's diapers and by that time, we were all pooped and Daddy had to carry Andrea all the way to Chitlom BTS station for the train back as we were not going to get stuck in the jam for another hour. By the time we got back to the hotel, it was already 8pm and after a good shower, we headed straight to bed. It was a good first day in Bangkok. Tomorrow we will be going to the Safari World. I cannot wait....
