Congratulations Wendy Yee Yee and Uncle Rockstar!

Today marks the union of Wendy Yee Yee and Uncle Fandy Rockstar. This is the first time we attended a Malay wedding so it was very interesting. The religious leaders sat down with Uncle Fandy on the stage while Wendy Yee Yee and her mother sat on couch next to him. The both of them look splendid in their Malay wedding attire. We were then treated to a big spread of Malay food and I must say it was very good although I didn't eat cos Daddy had nothing but praises for the spread. Since this is the Malay portion of the wedding, we will also be treated to the usual Chinese wedding this coming Tuesday at Fort Canning Park. Will keep you guys posted then.

My First High Tea

Today Mummy met up with her friends and decided to have high tea at Merchant Court Hotel. Apparently they were told that the high tea there is quite good. Unfortunately I was a little cranky and didn't leave Mummy much time to go get her food. I only decided to quieten down when they close the high tea. While we were having tea, Daddy went shopping on his own at Marina Square. He bought himself a duffel bag, something he has been eyeing for a long time.

We also went swimming today and Ah Gong went along with us. He was quite impressed that I could stay in the water for about 45 mins and still furiously kicking away. After swimming, we went to Xin Wang for something to eat. I also had my milk there. Mummy also bought me some cute finger puppets.. a cow, a dog and an alligator.

Playtime with Daddy

I had a fun time with Daddy today as he started playing rough with me. He says that boys must be rough and tough so that is how he will play with me. I enjoyed it and even chuckled a few times in the process. Daddy says when my neck is stronger and more steady, he will throw me up in the air and hopefully catch me in time. Why am I not looking forward to that. At the end of our play session, I gave Daddy a big kiss for his effort.

Sarong

Mummy bought a sarong from Pupsik Studio. It has very nice and groovy prints, the kind that Daddy likes. Mummy had to study the illustrations a few times before she managed to securely place me in the sarong. I think I look cool in it. Check out my Don't-Bully-My-Mummy-I'm-Here-To-Protect-Her look in this picture. Now Mummy can carry me and go for outings without worrying about having tired arms.

Lashes

Remember during CNY I mentioned that Aunty Evelyn suggested Mummy trim my eye lashes to help it grow longer? I think it worked. Check out my lashes! Mummy is undecided if she wants to trim another time as there is more to lose now.

We took some really nice pictures outside our house.

Glory Glory Man United!

18th League Title. I don't really know what that means but Daddy was really happy tonight as we watched the game between Man United and Arsenal at Godpa's house. In fact I was having a terrible time as I was coughing away and crying most of the time. Mummy tried to put me to sleep but I kept waking up. Maybe it was the crowd, maybe I'm not really a Man U fan. But whatever it was, I am glad I don't have to watch soccer with Daddy for the next three months.

In the afternoon, we met up with Godma at Siglap. She is very big now and gonna pop anytime soon. She looks very calm but I am sure she is very excited. I can't wait to play with another new friend.

Letter from Mummy on Mother's Day

To my dearest lil' Reuben,
You changed my life the way I never thought anyone could... I love you loads!

xxoo,
Mummy

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love,
the heartache, the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom .

$12k Mother's Day Present

Remember my birth weight? It was 3.175kg. Ah Mah has been diligently buying this number 3 times a week since I was born for the last 18 weeks. She spends $18 per week and considering her outlay of $324 so far, her prize money of about $12k is not a bad deal at all. Who needs the stock market with luck like Ah Mah's. I guess this is the best Mother's Day present Ah Mah has ever received.

I stayed over at Bishan again tonight because Daddy is not feeling well and had to be separated from me in case my cough or fever gets worse. I hope Daddy gets well soon as he looks terrible.

Swine Flu

In case you are wondering, no I didn't get swine flu. But I did come down with a slight fever of 37.7 degrees plus I started coughing with phlegm stuck in my throat which makes me uncomfortable cos I am not able to drink my milk, something I do very passionately. Mummy and Daddy decided to put a fever patch over my forehead to bring the fever down. However, although the fever came down a little, the phlegm got worst and I couldn't sleep and drink properly so we had no choice but to pay Dr Junior a visit. I now weigh 7.8kg.

May Day

Today is May Day holiday and as it falls on a Friday, everyone gets to enjoy a long weekend. Mummy decided that instead of the usual Friday night dinner at Bishan, we should go out for lunch. She chose one of our favourite Teochew restaurant called Swa Garden at MacPherson Road and she ordered their favourite dish, the Ah Kua crab so called because they can't figure out if it is a male or female crab. We also had other yummy dishes like their lobster Ngor Hiang, Teochew Kway Teow and special Tofu. We didn't order their "Or Ni" dessert as we were going to Ah Mah's house for Ginko nut soup. Daddy loves it as it helps with his memory problem.

For dinner, Daddy decided to cook his favourite Parsley Prawn Pasta, something he hasn't done since moving to our current place cos the kitchen is Nai Nai's territory now. However, since she wasn't going to be in tonight, Daddy decided to practise his culinary skills. He wasn't very impressed with himself but Mummy decided to be nice and said it was good. As I have already had my milk, I accompanied them as they ate in front of the TV like they used to do back in Joo Chiat.
